Activating SIM Card: |
Your Nepal mobile phone number is displayed on the front of your SIM card packaging and begins +977 9803...
• Travel to Nepal
• Set your Nepal cell phone to the GSM 900 frequency
• Be sure that battery is charged
• Insert the Nepal SIM chip into the cellular phone
• Enter the PIN code (required) ^
• Turn on your phone
• Start calling
^ In order to start using your mobile phone, please snap out the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs ( you will usually find your phone's SIM tray underneath the battery of your GSM phone). You will be asked to enter 4-digit secret code PIN1, which protect your SIM card from unauthorized use. You will be requested to enter PIN1 each time the SIM card is inserted into a phone and /or each time your phone is turned ON, unless you have turned OFF such fuction in your mobile phone.
You are asked to be careful while entering your PIN1 because the SIM card will be automatically lock-up (block) after three consecutive wrong entries to prevent continious "guess" attempts. If the SIM card is locked-up, the "Blocked" message will appear and unblocking will be needed (PUK code). In order to unblock your PIN1, you should use your 8-digit PUK1 code.
Subsequently entering a wrong PUK1 ten (10) times will have your SIM card permanently blocked. In such case, you will have to get a new SIM card.
You many also need PIN2, which is used to access some functions of your phone (in case such functions supported by your phone model) such as "Fixed dialing", a service that restricts phone calls to the numbers predefined in the fixed dialing list, stored on the SIM card, and "Call Charg Metering".
PUK2 is used to unblock PIN2.
Blocking and unblocking for PIN2 and PUK2 are similar to that one of PIN1 and PUK1.
In case you have forgotten and lost your PIN1, PIN2, PUK1 and PUK2, you can always ask Mero Mobile customer care personnel for assistance, either in person at Mero Mobile customer care offices or over the phone.
You can change your PIN1 and PIN2 or switch OFF this fuction however, switching OFF PIN1 would leave your mobile phone without protection against unauthorized use. PUK1 and PUK2 can not be changed.
How to activate Voice Mail:
Call 900
To modify/edit and to listen
Call 9991.
You can also create your personal mailbox and also be able to adjust security code. (Enable and Disable according to your needs).
To divert/forward Calls:
Option 1.
You can activate one or several modes of call forwarding using the menu of your mobile phone by setting the number of the Voice Mail system as + 977 980 9990000.
Option 2.
Without entering your phone menu, you can divert incoming calls to +977 980 9990000 by dialing one of the following combinations:
- Dial **61*+ 977 980 9990000# and press "OK" or "Send" button (in case you would like to receive your Voice messages when you are unable to answer the call)
- Dial **62*+ 977 980 9990000# and press "OK" or "Send" button (in case you would like to receive your Voice messages while your mobile phone is switched off or not in the Network coverage area)
- Dial **67*+ 977 980 9990000# and press "OK" or "Send" button (in case you would like to receive your Voice messages while your number is busy)
- Dial **21*+ 977 980 9990000# and press "OK" or "Send" button (in case you would like to divert all calls)
Note:
To cancel any type of call forwarding, you need to dial the following combination: ##002# and press "OK" or "Send" button.
You can listen to the messages in your Voicemail or Mailbox at any convenient time, either on your mobile phone or using any PSTN phone working with tone dialing. Following are the instruction in how you could listen:
To listen to your voice messages using your mobile phone:
-Dial the number for Voice Messages Service center: 9991
-Enter you personal password, press # and then follow the instructions of the system.
To listen to your voice messages using PSTN phone with tone dialing:
-Dial the number of Voice Messages Service center 980 9991000
-Dial your Mero Mobile number XXX XXXX and press #
-Enter you personal password, press # and then follow the instructions of the system. |

Adding Talk Time in your SIM: |
US$ 2.00 in starter airtime credit is included with your Nepal SIM card purchase.
After the validity of card is expired, the connection(SIM Card) is required to be recharged by the scratch card or Virtually Transfer Money. This recharge should be done within the grace period of 6 months if you want your balance unutilized also to be credited along with the net call value of the new charge through which you are charging.
During grace period no calls are allowed except emergency(toll free) and IVR call.
These scratch cards are available in different denominations of $5.00(with validity of 42 days), $8.00(with validity of 182 days), $15.00 (with the validity period of 1 year).
Validity period will start from the day of latest recharge.
Recharge card containing 13 digits secret code to extend your prepaid account. When you purchase a recharge card, scratch the hidden portion on the recharge card to know the secret code. Dial 900 and you will be connected to IVR prompt menu, choose option 2 to recharge, you will then ask to enter 13 digits code. Enter the code followed by #, your account is activated. OR you could dial *902# followed by 13 digits code and # then push call button. You will receive a message saying “your payment is received”.
To check your available account balance, dial *901# and call, you will see you current balance on your phone screen.

Service life: |
- When your prepaid period has expired, your account will get deactivated. But you will get the grace period of 6 month during which you can reactive your prepaid card by recharging it. You will not be able to make or receive any calls.
